As a student, you’ll take core courses covering both health information management and technology. Then, you’ll choose to specialize in health information management  or health information technology. As a HIM student, you’ll learn about human resource management, leadership, and strategic planning. As a HIT student, you’ll gain skills in programming, data security, and IT.

Qualify for Industry Credentials

The UW HIMT program is CAHIIM accredited, which means upon completing your degree, you’re qualified to sit for industry credentialing exams like the RHIA to become a registered health information administrator. CAHIIM accreditation is your assurance that our program meets the rigorous academic quality and competency standards established by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
