In 1987, the United Nations Brundtland Commission defined sustainability as “meeting the present needs of society without compromising the needs of future generations.” Today, more organizations recognize their role in conserving the planet’s resources and improving the communities in which they do business. All courses in our sustainability programs are completed entirely online—watch lectures, participate in online forums, and do homework whenever it’s convenient for you. Learn to help the world do business better.

Sustainable Management—Master of Science

12 courses. 34 credits. Lead sustainable change with courses on cultural and historical foundations of sustainability, policy, economics, geopolitical systems, and the built and natural environment. Elective courses focus on climate change, waste management and resource recovery, supply chain, and corporate social responsibility.

Sustainability and Well-being—Graduate Certificate

4 courses. 12 credits. Society’s well-being depends on supportive environments where we live, work, and play. Learn how to advance our workplaces and communities by integrating the concepts of sustainability and well-being.

Taking the SMGT 780: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) course helped me to determine my career goals post-graduation. Scholarships for new Master’s students

Since launching the scholarship program in 2011, UW Sustainable Management has awarded nearly $1,300,000 to students to help pay for their education and advance the positive impact of sustainability across the world.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be admitted to a campus and registered for at least one course in the UW Sustainable Management Master of Science program. Certificate and special students are not eligible.
