UW Online Collaboratives Program Dates

Online Semester-Based Programs

Semester-based degree programs and certificates offer three start dates: fall, spring, and summer semester.

Your online application and all required materials must be submitted to your preferred home campus generally 2-4 weeks prior to the date classes start (this varies by campus).

Starting your application early will ensure you have plenty of time to gather required materials (such as transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.), apply for financial aid, transfer credits, and complete the application.

*Please visit your specific program page to learn more about when all application materials need to be completed.

Online Competency-Based Programs

Competency-based programs and certificates, such as those offered through the UW Flexible Option, are completed in 12-week subscription periods instead of semesters. Subscription periods begin every month, however, application materials must be submitted a month prior to the desired start date.

For example, if you would like to start your program on the May start date, all your application materials must be submitted by April 1 to be considered for your desired subscription start date.

*Please visit the important dates to remember page on the UW Flexible Option website.

Individual courses via UW Independent Learning

Independent Learning courses do not require an application and are not tied to a semester—start when it is convenient for you!
