The projected changes in substance use disorder regulations as described in the 2026 revisions and their effects on staff training, specifically with regard to the 42 CFR Part 2 regulations, are the main topics of this internship project. The goal is to create a thorough training curriculum for medical professionals and employees of organizations that serve people with substance use disorders.
This project’s content focuses on equipping healthcare staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to comply with the upcoming changes in substance use disorder regulations. Through thorough research, targeted training, and ongoing education, the project aims to enhance patient care and ensure adherence to legal requirements.
The capstone project was a pivotal moment in my educational journey, providing valuable insights and practical experience in health information management and technology (HIMT). It allowed me to apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios, enhancing my understanding of regulatory compliance and data management. Additionally, the project helped develop leadership skills, such as communication, and project management.
The capstone project also enhanced my confidence as a health information management professional, validated my skills, and prepared me for future challenges. It also instilled a commitment to continuous learning, motivating me to seek additional learning opportunities.
