Arizona Biorepository Document Retention and OnBase Build
Program: Health Information Management Technology Bachelor's Completion

For my Capstone, I worked with the Enterprise Content Management Systems (ECMS) team at Mayo Clinic to provide a document retention solution to the Arizona Biorepository (BioRep) department using OnBase. This project allowed me to use the software/systems development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodology to bring the project from idea to fruition. The tasks were broken down over two-week cycles called sprints to allow for continuous feedback during each cycle. I gained great technical experience with OnBase configuration, Azure DevOps (ADO), Citrix, Cleo Harmony, ServiceNow, and SalePoint. Outside of my specific project, I was exposed to many other projects to support Revenue Cycle, Health Information Management Services, and DLMP-CoLab. At the end of this project, we delivered a fully functioning document retention solution to the Arizona biorepository department. The functions included sweep folders and scan queues to move documents into the Hyland cloud for storage, and an error fallout workflow to catch any documents that did not satisfy keyword requirements to allow for re-indexing and retention. The client was happy with our work on this project, and I gained a lot of valuable experience. Overall, this experience gave me a realistic look into careers as an IT Application Analyst, a Project Manager, and a Programmer/Analyst in healthcare.
I really enjoyed my capstone experience and I hope others get as much from theirs as I got from mine.
