Children’s WI Revenue Cycle has various contact points during pre-service interaction, in person patient experience and post-service billing process. There are several touch points in a patient’s journey that are non-clinical if in the hospital visit or through a specialty clinic visit. Many patient account interactions could be automated to improve accuracy, efficiency, patient satisfaction, and team engagement. AI automation has been identified as a benefit for Revenue Cycle. Review and research of different vendors as well as the current electronic health record, Epic has been completed and is ready for internal review in partnership with IS and roadmap planning.
This project’s purpose is to increase operational efficiency and decrease operational expense within Revenue Cycle. The objectives are to analyze data identifying departments for implementing AI usage through meeting with vendors outside of Epic and to understand the Request for Proposal (RPF) process internally to make appropriate recommendations that should be considered to uphold financial responsibility within the organization.
Information shared within this analysis will demonstrate that Revenue Cycle has explored potential cost saving solutions for the organization. Two different vendors have been reviewed as well as the current state of automation available within Epic. The vendors offer similar automation capability and a commitment to working with Epic to be successful in implementation. Epic is slightly less proficient in specifics of Revenue Cycle, however, has development in the works. A phased approach to this work is recommended once department of focus is determined.
