Athletic Training Handbook
Program: Healthcare Administration Master's Degree
Host Company: Aspirus
Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin (remote)
Student: Ashley Rottier
The goal of this project was to develop a handbook with written policies and procedures for the athletic training division of Aspirus Northland Orthopedics and explore the potential for reimbursement of athletic training services. There was opportunity for Aspirus Northland Orthopedics to unify all seven outreach Athletic Trainers’ best practices. At the time, there were no written policies or procedures putting Aspirus at risk. The project comprised of collecting, analyzing, rewriting, and approving the most common policies and protocols. Each policy or procedure was analyzed utilizing the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) recommendations and the best practices established by the National Athletic Training Association (NATA). The outcome of the project was a comprehensive handbook to guide the practices of Athletic Trainers within Aspirus Northland Orthopedics and supporting documents to further the exploration of reimbursement for athletic trainers.
