Data Analytics to Assist Healthcare Facility Identify Marketing Opportunities

The goal of this Capstone project was to manipulate data provided by the site supervisor to arrive at an updated market share analysis, and arriving at conclusions based on that analysis. The data for this project, provided by the site supervisor, came from The Nielson Company and Truven Health Analytics, Inc. Demographic data projections provided insights into possible population changes in the Northern region of SSM Health from 2016 to 2021. A pivot table of market share trend details included discharge information for 121 healthcare facilities in the region. Some of the facilities were part of the same parent organization, each with its own unique State Hospital ID number. Part of the data provided included Service Areas and Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRG) related to patient discharges, which provided insights as to how SSM could expand, improve, or market in the Northern Region specific to the Service Area.
