My project explores the history, technical details, and potential for commercial applications of a relatively untapped machine learning technique that has its roots in biological neuromodulation. I reviewed the available literature and research, explored four key methods of adding neuromodulation to artificial neural networks, and discussed using neuromodulation for two common business scenarios.
