Factors Affecting Mortality and Life Expectancy: A Cross National Study

Program: Data Science Master's
Location: Not Specified (remote)
Student: Shyju Kozhukkunnon

My capstone was a case study on various factors affecting mortality rates across all countries. The case study looked at three factors, namely crude death rate, median age, and life
expectancy at birth variables, to check if they are and how much they are impacted by socioeconomic factors. I looked at the parameters of education, economy, healthcare spending, vaccination, rural population, and gender equality. The case study found all these factors to have some effect or other across all years and countries. Median age and life expectancy at birth showed delayed impact as well. In other words, the impact of measures like a good secondary education showed impact on improving median age many years later.
