From SOP to Inquiry: Enhancing High School Biotechnology with the Bio-Rad T100 Thermal Cycler

This project created an SOP to be used with a common piece of laboratory equipment, the thermal cycler, along with an engaging activity to investigate whether their favorite grocery store snack contains genetically modified organisms.  As the field of biotechnology continues to grow, more emphasis will be placed on incorporating biotechnology into high school curricula.  The main objective of this project was to create user-friendly resources that ultimately can help reduce the stress some teachers may feel from teaching unfamiliar content or equipment.
