How Art Can Cultivate Respect for Natural Spaces

Program: Sustainable Management Master's
Location: Chicago, Illinois (onsite)
Student: Alyssa Mohn

My project aims to create an assessment of what initiatives are already in motion towards greener arts practices and where people believe the movement is going next, to organically discover why humans care for nature so that artists may foster that connection, to collect examples of experiences people believed were successful in cultivating respect for the natural environment through art. A compilation can be helpful for reference and inspiration, and to explore the roots of the United States arts community’s resistance to environmental action, in order to improve education for emerging artists.
