Migration to and Implementation of SpheraCloud

Program: Health Information Management Technology Bachelor's Completion
Host Company: Omnicell, Inc.
Location: Not Specified (remote)
Student: Zacharia Christensen

Omnicell has entered into an agreement with a company called Sphera for a software platform to track environmental, health and safety incidents, manage an ESG program, and manage chemical information. Sphera’s platform, SpheraCloud, will replace two other platforms, resulting in a streamlining of operations and reducing the number of vendors.

This project is to manage the implementation of SpheraCloud’s platform, specifically their HSM (Health Safety Management), CS (Corporate Sustainability), and CM (Chemical Management) modules.

As the project leader for the implementation of multiple modules offered by Sphera, I have had to work cross-functionally with many groups within Omnicell, including, but not limited to: EHS, IT, Compliance, Privacy, International Compliance, HR, Field Service, and Quality.

Working with these teams, I needed to identify their needs, correlate those needs to Sphera’s capabilities, and work with Sphera implementation teams to meet the stated needs.

I believe that the capstone experience holds a lot of value for those students who are either not employed in their field of study or are just about to embark on their careers. For adult learners, who may already have a career or a full-time job, a capstone project could be difficult to manage, especially if their job or time outside of school are not very flexible. I was fortunate that I had a project that was coming up that had some areas that I could connect with the HIMT program and that the director I report to is supportive of my educational efforts. In some of my prior roles, I would not have been afforded such flexibility.
