New Employee Onboarding and Checklist

Program: Health Information Management Technology Bachelor's Completion
Host Company: Leidos QTC Health Services
Location: Racine, Wisconsin (remote)
Student: Adam Rodriguez

During my internship at Leidos QTC Health Services, I worked remotely as part of the Provider Relations Advocate (PRA) Department. This department plays a critical role in supporting contracted providers who perform medical evaluations for veterans and claimants. My primary capstone project involved the development of a PRA Onboarding Guide & Checklist, designed to streamline the training process for new hires joining our team. The project focused on consolidating key procedural knowledge, aligning expectations, and creating a centralized resource that would ease the onboarding experience for future PRA team members.

This initiative aimed to improve consistency in knowledge transfer, reduce training time, and establish a standard framework for success in the PRA role. The final product is now available as a reference and training tool for both leadership and incoming staff.

My capstone experience at Leidos QTC Health Services really helped me grow in both my education and career. I worked on a project that improved how new team members are trained in the Provider Relations Advocate department. I used many skills I learned in the HIMT program, like organizing information, using healthcare technology, and managing a project. This experience taught me how different departments work together and helped me understand my role better. It also gave me more confidence in my job and made me excited to keep learning and growing in my career.
