The purpose of the project is to predict the future price of diamonds. Using publicly available data from a variety of sources including the FRED database, financial statement of publicly trade companies and an index of the price level of diamonds (IDEX), the project was to project the change in price of diamonds in the upcoming calendar year along with a 90% confidence interval and also identify key predictor variables that could be used as leading indicators. The project used both a Random Forest and Boosted Regression Model to produce its estimates.
