Smart Manufacturing Scheduling: Blending AI, Optimization, and Stochastic Modeling

Parallel machine operations scheduling can drastically save time with an integrated decision science (optimization, AI, and stochastic modeling) algorithm instead of traditional basic sorting algorithms. The project’s key business metric is optimizing throughput to increase profits, and the following are the objectives: 

  • Deliver (1) a 10%+ improvement using AI-boosted scheduling compared to control, (2) a 20%+ improvement through optimization under certainty, (3) and a 30%+ improvement through stochastic optimization under uncertainty. 
  • (4) schedule within five minutes (or less) while maintaining the above objectives; faster is considered better.
