The Green Dream: Microalgae for Sustainable Biofuels

Program: Applied Biotechnology Master's Degree — Quality Assurance and Compliance
Host Company: Southern Illinois University Carbondale
Location: Not Specified (hybrid)
Student: Reihaneh Habibollahzadeh

The primary objective of the project is to explore and evaluate the potential of microalgae as a sustainable and efficient source for biofuel production. The project analyzed microalgae strain selection, cultivation, harvesting, and processing methods to analyze the most efficient technique to convert microalgae to biofuel. By leveraging microalgae’s high lipid content and rapid growth rates, the project seeks to contribute to the development of eco-friendly and renewable alternatives to fossil fuels.
