The focus of this project was to gain an understanding of the HIM system at St. Peter’s hospital and regulatory requirements, culminating into a presentation to the nursing staff. The presentation will provide awareness to the role of HIM and the importance of accurate and thorough documentation to ensure patient safety and satisfaction, a meaningful representation of care for receiving reimbursement for provided care, identifying continuing quality improvements and metrics.
