Traumatic Brain Injury – Grant Application to Defense Health Agency

Program: Applied Biotechnology Master's Degree — Business Management
Host Company: Alionus LLC
Location: West Orange, New Jersey (remote)
Student: Dr. David A. Allan-Matheson

There is a need for an improved solution for multiple situations across different military environment in which TBI arises. As a result, the Defense Health Agency (DHA) is seeking alternative treatment measures using biopharma technology to treat TBI. The primary objective of this WISC Capstone was to submit a grant application to the Defense Health Agency in support of a possible pharmaceutical therapy for TBI. Driving this requirement was based on the following sub-objectives / rationales: 1) support the grant application and funding process through the Department of Defense (DoD) for brain injury studies on behalf of Alionus, LLC; 2) provide lessons learned on how to navigate the grant funding process within the DoD on behalf of the Alionus; and 3) support development of grant execution for Alionus, LLC to grow funding streams for TBI.
