Wellness Within a Non-Profit Company

Program: Health and Wellness Management
Host Company: Care Wisconsin
Location: Madison, Wisconsin (onsite)
Student: Marie Stankovsky

I was able to complete my fieldwork where I was employed at that time. My company was starting to re-implement a Wellness team and Wellness initiatives and I was asked to co-lead this program. I was able to lead a group of our volunteer employees in the area of physical health and healthy diet. We created some documentation around healthy food choices and recipes, highlighting a different healthy food each week. We created and implemented different wellness challenges for employees to participate in. I organized and lead meetings for our wellness team and I was also able to be part of the team that was responsible for interviewing and vetting different online wellness vendors/companies to provide a platform for our employees to use to track their health and wellness and a means to determine who reached the goals outlined by the company to get their Wellness Incentive. Due to our company being a non-profit we had to be very diligent in what monies were spent on, which included a lot of creativity and grassroots programs that still met our employees wants and needs.

“I think that the fieldwork experience is very beneficial in providing us with real world experience and opportunities to implement what we have learned throughout our degree program. It can help the student determine what areas they might like to pursue related to wellness and what type of industry they may want to get into. I was very grateful for this opportunity and found it extremely beneficial.”
