HIMT: A Growing Field with Increasing Opportunities

The health information field has transformed dramatically due to new technology and regulations. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that employment of medical and health services managers will grow by 32 percent between 2020 and 2030—far outpacing the average for other occupations in the United States.

The UW Bachelor of Science in HIMT provides professionals the education and skills they need to enter and advance in the field of health information.

“Even though our students complete their degree entirely online, they can still connect with peers and benefit from a Success Coach who is there to support them along the way,” Lyndsey said. “The HIMT program is also fortunate to have dedicated and experienced faculty who are passionate about the field and are active in the health information industry.”

The 100% online program, which is CAHIIM accredited, is a partnership between two UWs: UW-Green Bay and UW-Parkside. Students enroll at and earn an HIMT degree from one of these two home campuses. They also can choose from two tracks of study: health information management or health IT.
