The accredited online associate degree program is now accepting applications for fall 2020 enrollment.

Seven University of Wisconsin campuses are now offering an online associate degree program in collaboration with UW Extended Campus. The UW Associate of Arts and Sciences degree program was recently accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is available through UW-Eau Claire, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Parkside, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point, and UW-Whitewater. Applications are now being accepted for the associate degree program, launching in September 2020.

This new 60-credit degree serves as the educational foundation for many bachelor’s programs within the UW System and at other four-year institutions and supports the goals of enhanced system-wide access and transferability of general education courses toward a degree, to satisfy prerequisite course requirements, or to supplement study.

“The associate degree complements our growing portfolio of bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, and expands our ability to meet the broad range of educational needs in Wisconsin and beyond,” said Aaron Brower, Executive Director of University of Wisconsin Extended Campus. “This program takes great advantage of the UW’s ability to offer high-quality education as a whole state system. They’re fantastic additions to the UW’s growing array of online programs.”

This UW associate degree program provides degree-seeking students with a broad liberal arts background and satisfies the general education requirements, and other prerequisites, at UW campus schools and most other four-year institutions. The associate degree program provides students with an online option that can reduce their time to graduation.

“With the new online associate degree, we are able to provide access to general education to students unable to attend courses on campus, fulfilling the UW System’s mission, ” said George Kroeninger, Chief Academic Officer of UW Extended Campus. “This degree allows on-campus students the chance to earn required credits to shorten their time to degree.”

The UW Associate of Arts and Sciences degree program joins a growing list of flexible, online degree and certificate programs designed for adult learners that is offered in partnership with UW Extended Campus and UW System campus partners.
